Safe Spaces To Recover  Â
I have been married to Richard for 36 years and have two grown children, Jessica and Matthew.
I met Richard at a church youth group and I have always been actively involved in church life taking on responsibilities such as Safeguarding Lead, Leadership Team member, Neighbourhood Chaplain, church publicity, speaker and meeting co-ordinator.
I started my career as a Registered General Nurse, working in Intensive Care in the Cardiff Royal Infirmary and then the Royal Gwent Hospital. After 10 years of Intensive Care nursing, I attended Redcliffe Bible College for 1 year in preparation for overseas mission work in Mongolia.
In 2000, I left the UK with Richard and our 2 children who were then 3 and 5 years old. While living in Mongolia I took on responsibilities that included being a medical advisor for an international organisation, teaching in the city university hospital, writing and teaching courses for first aid and women’s health and being chair of the PTA of the International School of Ulaan Bataar.
On return to the UK in 2007 I studied a BEd Hons and started teaching in my local primary school. During that time I met Stuart and Caroline through their work with Nightshelter.
I am now an active shareholder and partner in R W Cole Limited and I work part time as the administrator there paying the bills and wages, running the glazing lab and generally dealing with any HR or Health and Safety requirements.
I also sing in Allegra, an award winning, performance choir where I am part of the management team working as the Members Secretary. We are currently going through the process of becoming a charity and this is giving me a good insight into the organisation and running of a charity. I will also become one of the trustees of the choir when it is set up as a charity.
My intention is that as a trustee of AGS I will be able to support and guide Caroline and Stuart using my administrative and financial skills, HR and Health and Safety experience and also my ability to connect with people who are facing difficult times.
