What we do
ABOUT AMAZING GRACE SPACES
Where the homeless are not sleeping rough on the street. Any person faced with homelessness gets a safe place to sleep and the wrap around support they need for their individual circumstances to realise their potential and avoid becoming homeless again.
Our Mission
To give people in crisis a Safe Space to Recover by providing access to innovative affordable quality accommodation or emergency shelter.
We will help individuals in crisis to embrace change and support them to recovery with an holistic approach.
We will support this change from inside out so the individual becomes a healthier person through their personal options and choices.
We will work in partnership with other agencies to support people when their needs are complex and a multidisciplinary approach to recovery is required for their individual circumstances
MEET THE TRUSTEES
Stuart and Caroline Johnson
The project Amazing Spaces, as originally named, was designed and concept brought together in 2017.
Caroline Johnson ran Teen Challenge Newport for 15 years working with the homeless, the most vulnerable in society and with the local churches to further the gospel to the marginalised.
Together they pioneered the Cold Winter Night Shelter project in Newport and with the local churches, for 8 years and helping other areas in South Wales to start and run the same. They also founded the charity Eden Gate, in Newport, furthering the work that they delivered under Teen Challenge Newport. From this experience it became apparent that there was a huge gap for those that needed affordable accommodation with varying support and help and guidance to recover from circumstances. We launched the project April 2015. A container was donated, and funding found to complete a show home. The project was renamed Amazing Grace Spaces to carry on with the project under its own charitable status knowing the impossible situation with affordable housing and the non-existence of recovery both locally and through-out Wales.
We work with other agencies to help those who find themselves homeless or under threat of homelessness together with those with life controlling addictions by providing assistance, sign posting and delivering projects that help address their individual needs. We partner with other agencies to access rehabilitation and move on support.
